Tie-down details for repair of wind-damaged roofs

The following was released today by the Department of Infrastucture and Planning:

"Hi Martyn

As you are aware, on 16 November a severe storm caused significant damage to houses in South East Queensland.

BCQ, in conjunction with Timber Queensland, have prepared the attached structural tie down details which may be of assistance when repair work is being carried out.

The details are suitable for houses in wind classifications up to N3 (maximum design gust wind speed of 50m/s).  Where there is doubt about the wind classification, particularly if the N3 classification may be exceeded or if significant structural damage has occurred to the building, it may be necessary to seek further advice from a registered engineer."

I have attached their guidelines for your reference.

Yours in property!
