Owners and operators of existing budget accomodation must:
- have a Fire Safety Management Plan;
- have an early warning system (e.g. smoke alarms) and emergency lighting installed for buildings constructed prior to 1992; and
- assess compliance with the Fire safety Standard and implement any required changes;
Builders and developers ofnew accomodation must:
- ensure compliance with the fire safety standards in the Fire and Rescue Service Act 1990 and Building Fire Safety Regulation 1992 and the Building Code of Australia parts 90 and 96; and
- implement a Fire Safety Management Plan.
